USA and France meet in the FIBA 2026 World Cup final

The U.S. women’s team secured its place in the FIBA 2026 World Cup final after a 76-66 win over Spain, with Breanna Stewart scoring 16 points. After a halftime with a three-point advantage for the Americans — helped by 8 points from Stewart and 6 from Paige Bueckers — a strong fourth quarter, in which they held Spain to just 8 points, sealed the result. In the group stage the USA finished 3-0 and moved automatically to the quarterfinals, while earlier they beat Hungary 108-56 and then Spain 76-66 in the semifinal.

As reported by Bleacher Report, the USA entered the game as 23.5-point favorites according to FanDuel Sportsbook and will now face France in the final. France arrives motivated for revenge after losing by just one point to the USA in the Paris 2024 Olympic final; this roster is quite different, as A’ja Wilson did not participate for health reasons and Sabrina Ionescu was not included in the list. Led by Gaby Williams, the French have won every game in this tournament by at least 22 points, while the USA has had narrower wins, including a 3-point win over Italy and the 10-point win over Spain.

On the eve of the final, the USA seeks to win its 12th title and mark a fifth straight championship. The final is scheduled for Sunday, September 11, at 2:00 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on TNT, truTV and HBO Max.
