The wait is over for Anis Mehmeti. The Albanian national team midfielder was finally fielded as a starter by the Ipswich coach, in the round of 32 of the League Cup against English champions Arsenal, even though he could not manage to triumph.

But he left his mark with the goal he scored for his side. The 25-year-old was left out of the squad in the opening championship matches of this season, but won the chance to play against the London Gunners and in fact responded quite well, managing in the second half to score his first goal in his first match as a starter — as if to point out to the coach that he left him out of the squad unjustly during this period.

Even though the goal did not help Ipswich, which was eliminated from the League Cup, for Anis Mehmeti it carries great importance, as it will most likely force the team’s coach to backtrack on his decision and give the Albanian national team midfielder the minutes he needs.
