Vucic announces visit to SNS activist in Nis hospital: alleged ‘attack’ during ‘door-to-door’ campaign, police and prosecution silent
Aleksandar Vucic, head of the list of the coalition around the SNS ‘Aleksandar Vucic – United Serbia’, announced today (September 30) that he will visit at the University Clinical Centre of Nis the activist D.S., who according to him was attacked yesterday afternoon in Nis simply for taking part in the ‘door-to-door’ campaign, as Danas reports. According to Danas, the announcement was made last night on Instagram.
The acting director of the Clinical Centre, Dr Milan Lazarevic, told pro-government media that D.S. was admitted with a head injury and, after examinations and a control scan, it was decided to keep him in hospital: the 53-year-old has a hematoma near the eye, a severe headache and vomiting; the scan showed a possible micro-haemorrhage in the brain parenchyma, a reason to keep him under observation.
Context: Lazarevic is at the same time an SNS councillor in the City Assembly and chairman of the Nis committee of Vucic’s Movement ‘for the People and the State’, active in the campaign; his father is retired general Vladimir Lazarevic, former commander of the Pristina Corps during the 1999 conflict and convicted by The Hague.
According to pro-government media, the activist D.S., campaigning ‘door to door’ together with J.C., entered the yard of a Nis resident who, according to their report, attacked them with a metal bar; when they grabbed the bar to stop him, the resident headbutted D.S. The ‘attacker’ is described as a Nis businessman with an honorary title in international relations and diplomacy.
The Ministry of the Interior and the competent prosecutor gave no announcement about the ‘incident’ by the time the article was published, as Danas writes.
