“What kind of justice is this?” / Former KLA leaders sentenced, thousands protest in Pristina: Does this…

Citizens gathered today in “Skënderbeu” square in Pristina for the protest called by the KLA War Veterans’ Organisation, in protest against the Specialist Court’s verdict against four former KLA leaders.

“Does this court have a flag big enough to cover all this great shame? You are trying to kill the Albanian people once again. What kind of justice is this, to ease the executioner’s burden. We do not accept this verdict. Not in my name. So our effort does not stop, we stand with them. Those who resisted when resistance was not allowed,” said a protester.

Meanwhile, before the protest began, police asked several participants for identification documents, a request that sparked reactions and debates between officers and citizens.

The Specialist Court, seated in The Hague, sentenced Hashim Thaçi and Jakup Krasniqi to 25 years in prison each, Kadri Veseli to 18 years and Rexhep Selimi to 13 years in prison.

All were convicted of war crimes, while being acquitted of crimes against humanity.
