“Widow’s Bay” Triumphs at Emmy 2026, “The Pitt” Named Best Drama Series Again

LOS ANGELES, September 15, ATSH/ “Widow’s Bay” was the big protagonist of the 78th Emmy Awards, winning 14 trophies and setting a new record for the most awards won by a comedy series in a single season. The ceremony took place in Los Angeles, hosted by actress Mariska Hargitay.

The Apple TV production won the top award for best comedy series, while the triumph extended to the acting categories. Matthew Rhys was named best actor in a comedy series, while Kate O’Flynn and Stephen Root won the awards for best supporting actress and actor respectively. “Widow’s Bay” also took the awards for best directing and best writing in the comedy category.

In the drama category, “The Pitt” won the award for best drama series for the second year in a row. Noah Wyle was named best actor in a drama for his performance in the HBO Max series.

Another historic moment was Jean Smart’s win, as she took the best comedy actress award for the fifth consecutive time for her role in “Hacks”. With this success, Smart reached eight Emmy awards for acting, tying the record set by Cloris Leachman and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

The award for best actress in a drama series went to Rhea Seehorn for “Pluribus”, while Allison Janney was named best supporting actress in a drama for “The Diplomat”. Tom Pelphrey won in the best supporting actor category for “Task”.

In the miniseries category, the top award went to “DTF St. Louis”. Matthew Rhys also won the award for best actor in a miniseries or television film for “The Beast in Me”, while Sally Field was named best actress for “Remarkably Bright Creatures”.

Among the other winners were “The Traitors” for best reality competition program and “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” for best variety talk series.

In another special moment of the evening, Michael J. Fox was honored with the “Bob Hope Humanitarian Award”, while the ceremony also included tributes to important figures in television and cinema.
