Yemeni forces claim 97 attacks on Houthi positions and 700 fighters killed in latest operations
Forces linked to Yemen’s government say they have carried out 97 “precision strike operations” against the Houthis on the al-Tawwahi front in Taiz province and in the al-Baha district of Lahij province, as Al Jazeera reports.
The spokesman of the Yemeni army, Brigadier General Majid Abdullah al-Nuzaili, said the operations used aircraft, drones, artillery, rockets and snipers. In a post on X he wrote that they resulted in the “neutralisation of 260 militia elements” and in the destruction or damage of military vehicles, as well as transport and supply vehicles.
The announcement came hours after he had said that government-linked forces carried out 257 attacks on the Houthis with aircraft, drones, artillery, rockets and launchers, in Sanaa, Midi, Baqim, al-Jawf, Marib, al-Bayda, Lahij and Taiz. According to him, those attacks killed at least 700 fighters.
Al Jazeera stresses that it could not verify the battlefield claims. The fighting is taking place while the Saudi-led coalition strikes Houthi positions from the air and the Houthis have attacked Saudi oil infrastructure, including the claim of an attack on the Aramco refinery near Riyadh.
