“You’ll say to hell with what we won,” Rama warns supermarkets, demands price transparency (VIDEO)

Prime Minister Edi Rama has warned supermarkets against abusing prices, calling on them to be transparent with citizens.

In a meeting with representatives of large retail chains, Rama said the government will not allow citizens to be “robbed” through unjustified price increases.

“You’ll say to hell with what we won, but it’s better to win less and stay in the market than to win more and be driven out of the market by the government,” Rama said.

The Prime Minister stressed that large retail chains must publish their prices and profit margins, warning of severe measures against those who abuse their dominant position.

“Whoever thinks they can rob Albanians will face the force of the law,” he said, adding that price-control teams will be on the ground starting next week.

Rama also announced a new platform where citizens can compare prices between different supermarkets in real time.
