A Club Legend: Jordan Morris Breaks Seattle Sounders’ All-Time Goals Record

Jordan Morris cemented his status as a Seattle Sounders FC legend by scoring the opener in Saturday’s 3-1 win over Minnesota United at Lumen Field. With an acrobatic finish in the 16th minute, Morris netted his 73rd regular-season goal for the club, passing Raúl Ruidíaz as the Sounders’ all-time top scorer.

As mlssoccer reports, the historic strike — his first since late April — follows the moment Morris broke Ruidíaz’s overall record back in March of last season. With 94 goals in all competitions, he has the chance to add to that tally as Seattle aim to secure a fourth straight Audi MLS Cup Playoff berth in the remaining weeks of the regular season.

Also on Saturday, longtime Seattle coach Brian Schmetzer reached a milestone of his own: 150 league wins in just 334 matches, making him the third-fastest coach in league history to reach that mark, behind Bruce Arena and Bob Bradley, and the ninth MLS coach to pass the threshold.

According to mlssoccer, the achievements of Morris and Schmetzer underscore their impact on the club’s history and strengthen expectations for Seattle’s push to stay in the title race through the rest of the season.
