After Two Years Without 5G, Villagers in India Tie Up Technician Sent to Fix the Signal (VIDEO)

An unusual incident occurred in a village in India, where residents, angered by poor 5G coverage, reportedly tied up a technician sent to fix the problem with cables.

The worker, identified by local media as Aditya Ban Singh, was unexpectedly found tied with cables to a mobile phone tower in the village of Hardauli, in the Fatehpur district of Uttar Pradesh state.

Police said the technician was targeted because of ongoing connectivity problems, as residents were forced to use an unstable 4G network despite paying for 5G services for more than two years.

Residents were outraged by the situation, claiming that despite their repeated complaints, almost nothing had been done to improve the signal in the area.

According to local media, when Singh arrived in the village to try to resolve the problem, residents surrounded him and protested in an unusual way, tying him with cables to the private telecommunications tower.

They reportedly even threatened not to release him until the executives of the mobile phone company resolved the problem. The technician was released a little later, however.

Since then, according to the same reports, five people have been charged with unlawful detention and disturbing public order.

The case reached the police after a video showing the tied-up Singh went viral online.

According to the Times of India, Fatehpur police chief Abhimanyu Manglik said: “Residents claimed the area had had mobile phone coverage problems, particularly 5G services, for nearly two years, despite the fact that a private telecommunications tower was installed there.”

An Arabic-language post on X about the incident reads: “In India, people complained about poor 5G network coverage and asked the telecom company to send an employee to fix the problem — when he arrived, they tied him up and said they would not release him until the network was improved.”
