Lithuania was on high alert after a report of a suspicious drone, suspected of having entered the country from Belarus. The authorities closed Vilnius airport, while NATO fighter jets were also mobilised.
Specifically, the fighter jets taking part in NATO’s Baltic air-policing mission took off after the report of the presence of the unmanned aircraft.
The information about the incident and the subsequent mobilisation was published by Lithuania’s National Crisis Management Centre.
At the same time, the competent authorities recommended that residents in the greater Vilnius area remain ready to seek shelter, if necessary.
