Albanian citizen A.V. arrested in Austria on Podgorica Interpol warrant — extradition expected

Austrian police have arrested Albanian citizen A.V., 40, who was internationally wanted by Interpol Podgorica, as the Montenegrin portal CdM reports.

According to a statement from Montenegro’s Police Directorate, the detainee was wanted to serve a seven-month prison sentence imposed by the Basic Court in Ulcinj for the criminal offence of aggravated theft in its extended form.

The arrest was carried out on the basis of the international arrest warrant issued by NCB Interpol Podgorica, after the man was identified on Austrian territory.

The next step, the statement adds, will be communication between the competent authorities of Montenegro and Austria on extraditing A.V. to Montenegro, where he will serve his sentence.
