Albanians in Texas rally in defense of KLA leaders and against the Special Court’s verdict
The Albanian community in Texas will hold a protest in Austin on Monday at 1:00 p.m. local time against the verdict of the Kosovo Specialist Chambers against the leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army.
The Albanian community in Texas is among the active Albanian communities in the U.S., with continuous engagement in the state’s public, cultural, and community life.
The protest aims to express the Albanian community’s opposition in the U.S. to the court’s decision and to recall the KLA’s role in defending the home front and Kosovo’s freedom.
Meanwhile, U.S. Congressman from Texas Keith Self, two days before the verdict was announced, on September 14, expressed concern about the possible impact of “political bias” on the decision-making of the justice institutions in The Hague.
“I hope that such bias will not appear this week, when the decision is made in the trial against Hashim Thaçi and three Albanian civilians who fought for independence after years of Serbian oppression,” Self wrote on X.
The protest will be held in Austin, where the Albanian community will convey the message in support of the KLA’s war and its leaders.
