Bengals Quarterback Joe Burrow Nursing Back Pain but Expected to Play in Week 2 Against Texans
Joe Burrow reported back pain after Cincinnati’s Week 1 win over Tampa Bay. In the season opener he completed 25 of 35 passes for 254 yards and a touchdown, while also throwing an interception returned for a touchdown.
As NFL reports, Burrow was officially listed as limited in Wednesday’s practice report, but made it known he expects to play Sunday against the Houston Texans. He said he could not pinpoint exactly when the pain occurred during the game and that he only began to feel the discomfort after it ended, adding that he would be fine.
Burrow’s injury history is a constant concern for the Bengals organization: he has missed significant time in three of his six NFL seasons and last season was forced to miss most of it due to a toe injury in Week 2. For this reason, his availability directly affects the team’s chances of success.
The team will monitor his condition during the week and is expected to make decisions based on medical evaluations before the game; per NFL, Burrow is currently expected to be on the field for Week 2 against the Texans.
