Berlin Process foreign ministers meet today in Budva, Commissioner Marta Kos also taking part
Montenegro is today hosting the Berlin Process ministerial meeting, held in Budva, as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announces via Radio Bijelo Polje. European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos is also taking part in the meeting; she will be part of the plenary session and the discussion panels together with the ministers of the Western Balkan countries, the EU member states taking part in the Process, and the United Kingdom.
Ahead of the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ervin Ibrahimović hosted in Pržno the welcome reception for the high delegations and held several bilateral meetings, confirming the commitment to the European future of the Western Balkans.
According to Pobjeda’s reporting, it has also been announced that Ibrahimović, Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Grlić Radman and Commissioner Kos will today lay wreaths at the memorial plaque to Croatian prisoners in Morinj, at the site where the JNA camp near Kotor operated from October 1991 to August 1992.
The meeting takes place at a special moment for the region, while European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is in Montenegro today as part of her annual Western Balkans tour.
The Berlin Process is the regional initiative launched in 2014 to foster cooperation among the six Western Balkan countries and to support their path toward European Union membership; the Budva meeting is expected to reaffirm the commitment to accelerating this process.
