Bill on the Bureau passes with 81 votes, Rrustem Mustafa the only PDK member to take part in the vote

The Bill on the State Bureau and the verification of unjustified assets is approved in first reading.

The Assembly of Kosovo has approved in first reading Bill no. 11/L-006 on the State Bureau and the Verification and Confiscation of Unjustified Assets.

The bill received the full support of the MPs present in the vote, with 81 votes in favour, none against and no abstentions.

From the PDK ranks, only MP Rrustem Mustafa took part in the vote, while the other MPs of this party left the hall a few minutes before it was put to a vote, in protest after the motion was put to a vote for the Law on the Specialist Chambers to also pass in second reading today at 17:30.

The Minister of Justice, Donika Gërvalla, said beforehand that “the citizens of our Republic are watching us and eagerly awaiting” the approval of this law.

Gërvalla briefly explained how this law will function.

“The Bureau verifies, gathers and presents the evidence. The person has the right to defend themselves and to contest it, while only the Court decides on confiscation,” she said.

The head of the Alliance’s parliamentary group, Besnik Tahiri, asked that this law “not be subject to the election campaign” and “not be an instrument which aims to convey messages outside the framework of the rule of law”, as Telegrafi reports.
