Brussels – Moldova receives 157 million euros from the EU for implementing reforms
BRUSSELS, 5 October /ATSH-DPA/ — The European Commission today gave Moldova another fund of 157 million euros, after the candidate country for European Union membership had implemented the required reforms.
“The pace of reforms in Chisinau is very good. Moldova’s European path is irreversible. At the same time, the continuation of reforms remains indispensable,” the EU’s foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas, declared today during a meeting in Brussels with Moldovan Prime Minister Vasile Tofan.
Moldova applied for European Union membership in 2022.
The fund approved today is part of an EU support programme for Moldova, worth 1.9 billion euros for the period 2025–2027.
The funds are given in instalments, after the country fulfils the set reforms.
According to the European Commission, the latest instalment was approved following Moldova’s progress in reforms related to the development of the private sector, strengthening economic resilience, economic governance, social cohesion and the labour market, energy, the green transition and good governance.
