Budućnost’s third defeat in the Champions League: Brest win 27:22 at “Morača”
On Sunday, September 20, 2026, at the “Morača” hall in Podgorica, ŽRK OTP Group Budućnost suffered their third consecutive defeat in the group stage of the women’s handball Champions League: 22:27 against French Brest.
It was the first match under the direction of new coach Maja Saviq, a club legend, who took over after the departure of coach Abramović and director Cmiljanić. The reaction was visible from the start: Budućnost played on equal terms with the Frenchwomen for a full 40 minutes — in the 38th minute, after two goals by Đurđina Jauković, the score was 15:16.
But then came a total collapse. Brest scored a 1:7 run that took the score to 16:23 and “broke” the match. The first half had ended 10:13.
The best among the Montenegrins was Đurđina Jauković with 9 goals, followed by Ivana Godeč with 7 and Jovana Skrobić with 3. Dunja Radević, Ivona Pavićević and Nina Bulatović scored one goal each, while goalkeeper Armel Atingre recorded 11 saves.
This is the third consecutive defeat for Budućnost in this season of the European elite, which complicates the Montenegrins’ path to the knockout stage.
