Budva court resolved 97% of cases older than three years within nine months
BUDVA, October 4 – The Misdemeanour Court in Budva has achieved significant progress in resolving old cases, as the Montenegrin public broadcaster RTCG reports.
Within nine months, 97% of the cases of enforcement of misdemeanour sanctions older than three years were resolved.
The court continues the efficient implementation of the measures ordered by the President of the Supreme Court of Montenegro, through a unique programme for resolving old cases, aimed at reducing their number and increasing up-to-dateness, RTCG reports. This is part of the court’s work plan for 2026.
On 1 January 2026 there were 65 unresolved cases older than three years (IPS cases formed during 2022); in the period 1 January – 30 September 2026, 63 of them were resolved, i.e. 96.92%. Only one new case crossed the three-year threshold.
The results confirm the commitment to strengthening the rule of law and the timely enforcement of sanctions, minimising the risk of cases becoming statute-barred and significantly increasing the efficiency of the judiciary, the announcement stresses.
