CLS asks the Serbian embassy in Abu Dhabi for clear information for voters in the UAE
The Center for Local Self-Government (CLS) has asked the Serbian embassy in Abu Dhabi to publish without delay clear information on the status of the voting requests of Serbian citizens in the United Arab Emirates, as the Serbian portal Danas writes.
According to CLS, a large number of Serbian citizens in the UAE have not received clear information from the embassy on the status of their applications to vote in the upcoming elections, for which the parliamentary vote is held on October 25.
“Citizens who applied on time have the right to know whether their requests have been registered and whether they are on the voter list abroad,” the statement stresses, adding that a lack of timely information must not become an obstacle to voting.
CLS considers that the diaspora’s right to vote must be protected and facilitated, not hindered by administrative inefficiency or a lack of information.
