Hillary Clinton sends video message to Pristina conference: When women have a seat at the table, communities are stronger

At the Jahjaga Foundation conference in Pristina, the former U.S. secretary of state stressed that peace is more durable when women are part of decision-making.

Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton sent a special video message to the conference “Partnership for Change: Women Transforming Systems – Advancing the Pristina Principles 2026–2035”, held today in Pristina and organized by the Jahjaga Foundation, as KosovaPress reports.

“You know, the lesson remains simple: when women have a seat at the table, communities are stronger, peace is more durable and societies are more inclusive. So let me congratulate the entire team of the Foundation. I hope this conference will bring new ideas, stronger partnerships and a renewed commitment to turning ideas into action. I am sorry that I cannot be there in person, but I am with you in spirit and I am cheering you on with all my heart, my friends,” Clinton said, according to KosovaPress.

Former President Atifete Jahjaga also addressed the conference and, as KosovaPress reports, emphasized the role of the Jahjaga Foundation in empowering women and advocating for social justice. She said it is not enough to count how many women are represented; the question must be how many of them have real influence — how many decisions are shaped and signed by women themselves. Jahjaga congratulated acting President Albulena Haxhiu on her role in leading decision-making policies.

For her part, Haxhiu stressed that women are part of the police, the army, the correctional service and the security institutions, carrying great responsibilities — one of the core issues of the “Women, Peace and Security” agenda of U.N. Security Council Resolution 1325, adopted in 2000, as KosovaPress reports.

The conference was held with the support of the project “Support for Civil Society in Kosovo”, financed by Luxembourg and implemented by LuxDev, the Luxembourg Agency for Development Cooperation.
