Customs discovers 50,000 undeclared euros in the luggage of the driver of the Italy–Kosovo bus line

Kosovo Customs announced today, 4 October 2026, that 50,000 hidden and undeclared euros were discovered at the Merdare Border Crossing Point. As Kosovo Customs announces, the sum was discovered during the detailed checks being carried out at Kosovo’s entry points to prevent smuggling and illegal activities.

Officers of the Anti-Smuggling Sector, together with customs and police officers, carried out detailed checks on a bus of the Italy–Kosovo line. During the check, as Kosovo Customs announces, 50,000 euros were found hidden in the bus driver’s personal luggage, undeclared to the customs authorities.

Customs recalled that every person who enters or leaves Kosovo and carries with them 10,000 euros or more is obliged to declare the sum to customs officers. Failure to declare such sums constitutes a legal violation and leads to the seizure of the money.

Customs has given no additional details regarding the destination of the money or the measures taken against the person involved.
