Hamza: The law on the Specialist Chambers should be approved, then the president elected and elections avoided
The chairman of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Bedri Hamza, has called for the procedures for electing the president to be concluded through a political agreement, so that the country does not go to elections.
Hamza said that first the law must be approved in both readings, and then the president’s name should be proposed and voted on.
He stressed that the position of the PDK, according to him, is not connected only to this party’s interests, arguing that the institutions and the future of Kosovo are more important than any political subject.
“I said it, I repeat it once more today. The request and the position of the PDK is this too, and this is not for the PDK. Because what is bigger than the PDK — the history, the present and the future of Kosovo is bigger than everything. Kosovo is bigger than us,” Hamza declared.
He repeated that the alternative the PDK supports is the approval of the law, the election of the president and the avoidance of elections.
“We are saying: let the law be approved in both readings. Then let the name for president be proposed and the president elected, and let elections be avoided. If someone else has a plan to take the country to elections, that is another matter,” Hamza said, as Telegrafi reports.
