«Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle» lands on Netflix and Hulu today — the highest-grossing Japanese film in history
«Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba — Infinity Castle», the first chapter of the anime series’ closing trilogy, starts streaming today, September 28, 2026, on Netflix (the US and select territories) and on Hulu (US), as Collider and Polygon report. Hulu also confirmed the release through a representative to Decider, with streaming starting at 3:00 a.m. ET.
The film opened in Japanese cinemas in July 2025 and grossed about $793.5 million worldwide — the highest-grossing Japanese film in history and the highest-grossing anime film of all time, according to ComicBook Resources; in the US it debuted in September 2025 with around $70 million.
Critics have embraced it enthusiastically: the film holds 98% from both critics and audiences on Rotten Tomatoes and has also been nominated for a Golden Globe, according to Collider.
The story follows the Demon Slayer Corps in the decisive battle against Muzan Kibutsuji and the Upper Moons inside the Infinity Castle. The film was produced by the ufotable studio, directed by Haruo Sotozaki and based on Koyoharu Gotouge’s manga.
The trilogy’s second and third chapters are in active development, tentatively planned for 2027 and 2029.
