Detention sought for two suspected loan sharks from Rahovec

The Basic Prosecution in Gjakova has filed a request for 30 days of detention against two persons with the initials S.S. and J.N., suspected of the criminal offense of “Usury.” The prosecution asked the Basic Court in Gjakova to order detention due to the risk of flight and of influencing witnesses.

It is suspected that from August 2026 onward, in Rahovec, the two defendants, acting in co-perpetration and with the aim of unlawful gain, exploited the dire financial situation of a person with the initials E.A. The victim, due to financial hardship, allegedly borrowed 1,000 euros from S.S. According to the prosecution’s request, he was first asked to return 3,000 euros, then 5,000 euros and finally 8,000 euros. The victim was threatened that, if he did not return the money, he would have to hand over the family car.

On September 24, 2026, the day the victim E.A. met defendant S.S. to hand over the money (8,000 euros), defendant J.N. also appeared and — having previously arranged it with S.S. — told the victim that 500 euros of the debt were his and that he now had to pay 8,000 euros, as the interest had grown. During special investigative measures, after the money was handed over, the suspects were arrested by police; the money received from the victim was found on the suspects.

During a search of suspect S.S.’s home, 9 rounds of 7.62×39 mm caliber were also found and seized, for which he allegedly had no valid permit. For this reason, S.S. is also suspected of the criminal offense of “Unauthorized ownership, control or possession of weapons.”

Since September 24, 2026, the suspects have been under a 48-hour detention measure by decision of the State Prosecutor.

The persons mentioned are presumed innocent until a final court decision.
