NEW YORK – The deputy leaders of Montenegro’s Democratic People’s Party (DNP), Maja Vukiçeviq and Milun Zogoviq, met in New York with William Kimmitt, the U.S. under secretary for international trade. As Pobjeda reports, citing the DNP’s announcement, the meeting took place on the sidelines of the panel “U.S. Tech Package and Export Program,” as part of the party’s international offensive titled “Make Montenegro Great Again.”
According to Pobjeda, alongside Kimmitt the panel was also attended by Jeffrey Kessler, under secretary for industry and security at the U.S. Department of Commerce, Sara Viten, chief commercial officer of the U.S. export-import bank EXIM, David Vogel, assistant secretary for trade, as well as ambassador Dan Negrea, the U.S. representative to the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
Kimmitt, as Pobjeda writes, is the under secretary for international trade at the U.S. Department of Commerce and leads the International Trade Administration. He is one of the senior U.S. administration officials in charge of international trade issues, investment, trade diplomacy and global competitiveness.
Before taking this duty, Kimmitt was a partner at the Washington office of the international law firm Kirkland & Ellis, where he dealt with international trade and investment issues, geopolitical risks and global supply chains. He had previously also worked at the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR), where he dealt with trade policy and legal issues.
According to Pobjeda, the meeting of Vukiçeviq and Zogoviq with Kimmitt is another in the series of meetings within the Democratic People’s Party’s international activities, aimed at strengthening contacts and cooperation with international partners and representatives of relevant institutions.
