Drama in Yerevan: Latkoviq scores on debut to give Montenegro a 3-2 win over Armenia

YEREVAN – Drama until the final seconds: Montenegro won 3–2 away to Armenia tonight in the Nations League, in a match decided by Aleksa Latkoviq’s goal in the 89th minute — on his debut in the “falcons'” shirt, as the Montenegrin portal Vijesti reports.

The visitors started the match in the best possible way: Erik Piloyan’s own goal in the 20th minute gave Montenegro the lead, but Artur Serobyan equalized for Armenia in the 34th minute, according to Vijesti’s reporting. Nikola Krstoviq, however, restored the “falcons'” advantage before halftime, scoring in the 38th minute.

The second half brought maximum tension at the Yerevan stadium. Eduard Spertsyan leveled the score at 2–2 in the 65th minute, seriously putting the visitors’ win in doubt. Just when everything seemed set to end in a draw, debutant Aleksa Latkoviq took center stage, scoring the 3–2 winner one minute before the end of regular time.

With this dramatic triumph, coach Mirko Vucinic’s Montenegro now has two wins from two matches and has taken a giant step toward winning Nations League group C2. As Vijesti writes, the “falcons” are slowly building a winning mentality — and the evening in Yerevan is the latest proof of that.
