Dual education a success story in Kosovo: Chamber of Commerce signs memorandum with 32 vocational schools

The Kosovo Chamber of Commerce signed a memorandum of understanding on Wednesday with the 32 vocational schools participating in dual education, hailing the model as a success story that should be institutionalized as a bridge between education and the labor market.

The news was announced at the conference “Closing Dual Education in Kosovo: Achievements, lessons learned and next steps,” attended by ambassadors and institutional representatives.

The head of the Chamber, Lulzim Rafuna, said these agreements are not merely formal documents, but a connecting bridge guaranteeing a professional environment between the private and public sectors, and a radical turning point in preparing the workforce for the future.

Lah Nitaj from the Ministry of Education said two generations have graduated from dual education so far, while the third graduates next year. He thanked parents who overcame cultural barriers to support this educational model.

All of this would have been impossible without the support of Germany and Luxembourg. The Ambassador of Luxembourg, Eric Dietz, said that since 2022 dual education has grown from a pilot initiative with around 100 pupils to more than 2,500 pupils in 32 vocational schools and over 1,000 partner enterprises, and that six new programs in fields such as ICT, renewable energy, and wood processing are equipping young people with skills for growing sectors of Kosovo’s economy.
