Đukanović: I don’t know Ilija Srdanović, the leader of the Student List — the accusations are “a pure lie”
Former Montenegrin president Milo Đukanović said he does not know Dr. Ilija Srdanović, the leader of the Student List in Serbia, RTCG reports, citing his interview with the daily Pobjeda.
Media close to the government in Serbia had written that Srdanović is Đukanović’s doctor and that the former Montenegrin president is trying through the “Student List” to topple the government in Serbia and president Aleksandar Vučić. “I have many friends in Serbia, including many doctors. Fortunately, Dr. Ilija Srdanović is not one of them. I have not even had the pleasure of meeting him,” Đukanović told Pobjeda.
He also rejected the claims that he is trying to topple the government in Serbia: “Everything that has been said and written in panic in recent weeks is a pure lie and serves the election campaign underway in Serbia.”
Đukanović praised Srdanović for “ignoring this hunt with dignity and superiority,” adding that today it is not easy to be Montenegrin in Serbia; he also said he believes the majority of Serbians do not support the atmosphere that, in his view, Greater-Serbian nationalists create.
