Escalation in the West Bank: a Palestinian dies at a checkpoint, more than 15 wounded

Escalation is the order of the day in the occupied West Bank in recent hours, with more than 15 wounded and one killed in attacks by Israeli soldiers and settlers, reports the Al Jazeera correspondent from Tulkarem.

According to the Palestinian Red Crescent, a Palestinian man died after being detained and mistreated by Israeli soldiers at a military checkpoint near Ramallah. The soldiers stopped him as he was passing through, took his identity document, held him and physically assaulted him; he later died at the scene. The family has been notified, and the Israeli army has launched an investigation, according to Palestinian sources.

The Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission said settlers have carried out more than 62,000 attacks against the West Bank since the start of the war in Gaza two years ago — a real rising curve, especially with the olive harvest season, in which settlers are seizing and burning large areas of land.
