Israel closes all crossings in the West Bank and Gaza from October 5 to 7
Israel will close all crossings in the occupied West Bank and in the Gaza Strip from October 5 to 7, at the time of the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur, as Al Jazeera reports.
Defence Minister Israel Katz ordered the closure, saying that in the West Bank it will be comprehensive, while the Gaza crossings will be closed only on October 6 and 7. In a security notice on Sunday, the U.S. embassy in West Jerusalem said it had been informed that the West Bank crossings will also be closed on October 7, 2026 — a one-day extension of the Yom Kippur closure.
The closure comes at a moment of high regional tension, as the U.S.–Israeli war against Iran has entered its eighth month and fronts remain open from Yemen and Lebanon to Gaza.
