Air Serbia has announced that, due to the activity of Mount Etna in Sicily and the temporary closure of Catania airport, on September 29, 2026, flights JU438 and JU439 between Belgrade and Catania will be diverted to Reggio Calabria airport, as Danas reports in its September 29, 2026 edition.
According to the company’s announcement, also reported by snm.rs, direktno.rs, newsmaxbalkans.com and dnevnik.rs, flight JU4438 Belgrade–Reggio Calabria will depart Belgrade at 07:00 local time, while flight JU4439 Reggio Calabria–Belgrade will depart at 09:50. Passengers will be provided with bus transfers on the Catania–Reggio Calabria–Catania route: the bus from Catania to Reggio Calabria airport is scheduled to depart at 05:00, and from Reggio Calabria to Catania at 09:30. Passengers traveling through travel agencies should contact their agencies for the bus departure point.
As Danas notes, Air Serbia says it is “closely monitoring the development of the situation and taking all available measures to provide the necessary support to passengers” on the flights in question.
