EU preparing separate roadmaps for Montenegro, Albania, Ukraine and Moldova toward membership

The European Union is preparing separate “roadmaps” for Montenegro, Albania, Ukraine and Moldova, with clearer steps, priorities and deadlines toward membership, Politico reports.
According to European Commission officials, these four countries are considered among the candidates that have advanced furthest in the integration process, while the new documents will set out the reforms they must deliver and the approximate deadlines for closing negotiating clusters.
In return, the EU aims to give the most advanced candidates a clearer membership perspective if they deliver the required reforms.
For the other candidate countries, including Kosovo, North Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, no such roadmaps are foreseen for now.
EU leaders are expected to discuss the enlargement process and the Union’s internal reforms at the October 15 summit.
