Falcons in Yerevan for the third time: Savic — “It will be difficult, but we’ve come for the three points”
Montenegro’s national football team has arrived in Yerevan for the third time in history, where on Monday (September 28) it will play its second match of this international window in the Nations League against Armenia, as the Montenegrin daily Vijesti reports. The match will be held at the “Vazgen Sargsyan” stadium and will kick off at 6:00 p.m. our time (8:00 p.m. local time).
Captain Stefan Savic, at the press conference held in the Armenian capital, did not hide the difficulty of the mission: “It will be difficult this time too, that is certain… we’ve come for the three points,” declared the experienced defender, adding that times have changed and the teams are entirely different from previous encounters.
The statistics do not favor the “Falcons”: Montenegro lost in Yerevan in 2016 and again in 2022, so Monday’s duel is seen as the ideal opportunity to break this negative tradition. Coach Mirko Vucinic is seeking continuity of positive results after the 2:1 triumph over Cyprus two days earlier.
According to Vijesti, both teams started this Nations League edition with wins — Montenegro beat Cyprus 2:1, while Armenia won 2:0 against Latvia — so the clash at “Vazgen Sargsyan” is expected to be decisive for the top of the group.
