“Fallen Angels” with Kelli O’Hara and Rose Byrne comes to cinemas: the film of the Broadway show opens on October 22

The Broadway comedy “Fallen Angels,” starring Kelli O’Hara and Rose Byrne, is coming to cinemas: the production, filmed live on stage, will be screened in cinemas from October 22 through Trafalgar Releasing, as Playbill reports.

It is a revival of Noël Coward’s 1925 comedy, brought to Broadway by the Roundabout Theatre Company at the Todd Haimes Theatre, where it ran from March 27 to June 7, 2026. The production sold out, received enthusiastic reviews and was nominated for four Tony Awards, including nominations for both lead actresses.

At the centre of the story are two old friends from the 1930s, Julia (O’Hara) and Jane (Byrne), who discover that their shared former French lover, Maurice Duclos (Mark Consuelos), is coming to town — just as their husbands are away. Each is going through the “seven-year itch” of her marriage, and the anticipation of the meeting plunges both into panic, accompanied by glass after glass of champagne. What follows is a physical comedy full of falls, slips and unforgettable drunken moments, in which O’Hara shows a new side of her talent beyond singing.

The cast is completed by Christopher Fitzgerald as Jane’s husband, Willy, the comedian and former “Daily Show” correspondent Aasif Mandvi as the slightly bewildered Fred, and Tracee Chimo, who, as Playbill writes, steals the show in the role of the outspoken maid Saunders. Jeff Mahshie’s 1930s-inspired costumes won a Tony Award, while Scott Ellis directs and David Rockwell designed the set.

According to Playbill, which has seen the film, the camera gives the audience a front-row seat: every fall, every facial expression and every perfectly timed line can be enjoyed up close. O’Hara told Playbill she would love to take the show on tour with Byrne to Australia — but until then, audiences everywhere can enjoy this champagne celebration in cinemas.
