FOCUS – U.S. Kicks Off G20 Energy Meetings in Houston

– The United States has kicked off G20 meetings in Houston, Texas, which will run through September 16, according to the “Straits Times.”

Discussions will focus on energy security and expanding access to affordable and sustainable energy.

The meetings are taking place at a time when oil and fuel prices have risen, due to the consequences of the war in the Middle East.

Europe is also struggling to fill fuel reserves ahead of winter.

Delegations from the world’s largest economies are taking part in the meeting, including China, India, Japan and Germany, as well as major oil producers such as Canada and Saudi Arabia.

Russia is also expected to send representatives.

According to the report, the average price of oil in the U.S. has reached around $1.64 per liter, while regular gasoline is 44% more expensive than before the war.

U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum are expected to take part in the meetings.
