‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘Harry Potter’ stars lead the world premiere of the play ‘Expecting’ in London
ABS Productions has announced the full cast of the world premiere of the play “Expecting”, written by Scott Elmegreen and Drew Fornarola, which will be staged at Riverside Studios in London from January 30 to March 27, 2027. The cast is led by John Bradley (Game of Thrones, 3 Body Problem), Joe Dempsie (Game of Thrones, Skins), Katie Leung (Bridgerton, Harry Potter) and Jamie-Lee O’Donnell (Derry Girls, Screw), as BroadwayWorld reports. The production is directed by Andy Sandberg, artistic director of Riverside Studios’ main season.
The play explores why couples today wait ever longer to have children — or why they do not have them at all. Zoey and Ethan are deciding whether to have a child, while Zoey’s younger sister, Trish, already has two children — three if you count her new boyfriend Matt.
According to BroadwayWorld, in a world where the birth rate is falling and the chaos of adult life is permanent, two couples who once believed they could have it all ask themselves what they really want — from career ambitions to weekend plans and the fate of humanity.
The production is part of Riverside Studios’ five-show main season. The season’s first show, “Affluenza”, is in previews and has been extended until November 28, while alongside “Expecting”, tickets also go on sale today for “Sacrilegious” — the new comedy by Oscar winner Tom Schulman (Dead Poets Society), which runs from December 5, 2026 to January 23, 2027.
