Herceg Novi: Suspect who stabbed his mother arrested, he turned himself in to the police

Police in Herceg Novi have arrested J.V., suspected of attempting to kill his mother, as Vijesti reports. The arrest was carried out on the order of the Higher State Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica.

According to the Police Directorate’s statement, the criminal offence is suspected to have been committed this morning, in the yard of the family home, where J.V. stabbed his mother in the neck.

“After committing the criminal offence, at around 9:30 J.V. presented himself at the police premises and turned himself in,” the statement says. The injured woman was rushed to hospital, where she was admitted for treatment.

The state prosecutor at the Higher Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica, after reviewing the facts, found that J.V.’s actions contain the essential elements of the criminal offence of attempted murder and ordered his detention. The suspect will be brought before the prosecutor together with the criminal complaint.
