Hyseni case, Balla: I don’t comment on files under investigation; the Socialist Party is no one’s lawyer

The head of the Parliamentary Group, Taulant Balla, said he does not comment on files under investigation by SPAK. Asked about the arrest measure for the former SHISH director, Balla said the Socialist Party is not and will not become anyone’s lawyer.

“I am among those who do not comment on SPAK’s files; I have not commented even on the files where I made the accusation myself, the case of Sali Berisha, and I have never commented on the content of a file. By court decision, we are now prohibited from commenting on fragments of conversations.

There are two standards that this parliamentary group, the majority, has set. We do not enter into the merits of files, we do not comment on the content of files, and every official must challenge the restriction of liberty in all its forms in court. The SP is no one’s defense lawyer.

In the case of persons with a parliamentary mandate, the Assembly of Albania, through the right given to it by the sovereign, has exercised this right, and I want to reiterate that Albania, as regards restrictions of liberty before a court decision, must put an end to this practice,” Balla said.
