Israeli army radio: Assassination attempt on Hamas deputy chief Ali al-Amoudi in Gaza fails

Israeli army radio reported that an attempt to kill Ali al-Amoudi, deputy head of Hamas’s political bureau in Gaza, has failed, as Al Jazeera reports in its live blog.

According to Israeli descriptions, al-Amoudi has in practice taken over Yahya Sinwar’s role in leading the enclave after the latter’s killing, which makes him one of the figures most wanted by Israel.

Hamas has not yet officially commented on the report of the failed assassination attempt.

The news comes on a day heavy with Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip, where correspondents report at least eight Palestinians killed since dawn, including five in Gaza City and one in Beit Lahia.
