“Jailer 2” trailer out today, 5 October: Rajinikanth returns as Muthuvel Pandian ten days before the premiere

The wait is over for Rajinikanth fans: the official trailer of “Jailer 2”, the sequel to one of the biggest hits of Tamil cinema, is released today, 5 October — as Filmimagic reports, referring to the official announcement by the production house Sun Pictures made on 3 October via social media, with a new poster showing Rajinikanth in the role of Muthuvel Pandian holding a pistol.

Rajinikanth returns as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, the iconic role from “Jailer” (2023), while Nelson Dilipkumar returns as director. Returning from the cast of the first film are Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa, Shivarajkumar and Vinayakan, while the new faces are SJ Suryah, Vidya Balan, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Vijay Sethupathi — although, according to Cinema Express, some of the appearances have not yet been officially confirmed. The music is again by Anirudh Ravichander, who has already released the songs “Ala Bolelo”, “One Sun One Moon”, “One Name” and “Bindaas”.

The trailer will be released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi versions, and arrives just ten days before the film’s world premiere on 15 October — a strategic launch for the Dussehra festival, which will also have IMAX screenings worldwide.

The 2023 “Jailer” was one of the biggest blockbusters of Rajinikanth’s career, so expectations for the sequel are at their highest. Today’s trailer is expected to give the first full look at the world Nelson Dilipkumar has built around Muthuvel Pandian and the new challenges the character faces.
