Jim Harbaugh: “I’m Not Demoralized” After the Chargers’ 0-2 Start and Double-Digit Loss to the Raiders

The Los Angeles Chargers suffered their second loss of the season, 26-14 to the Las Vegas Raiders, and now open the campaign 0-2. The results exposed problems on both sides of the ball, while expectations of an easy start against rebuilding teams went unfulfilled.

According to the NFL, Harbaugh said: “I’m not demoralized. Nobody in that locker room is demoralized.” The coach defended the team’s commitment, insisting they must work to overcome these difficult starts.

Justin Herbert looked inconsistent during the game, finishing 15 of 27 for 192 yards, with one touchdown and two interceptions. An Omarion Hampton fumble in the fourth quarter sealed the loss, while a Joe Alt penalty in the end zone resulted in a safety for the Raiders. After the game, Harbaugh said the team will watch the film and get back to work to correct the problems.

The offense looked scattered under new offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel, while the offensive line struggled again and turnovers continued to hurt. The defense felt pushed around, especially up front, and the secondary was exploited by opponents. According to Opta Stats, the Chargers are the second team in NFL history to lose two straight home games by double digits to teams that had a win percentage below .200 the previous season.

Next week brings a tough challenge, with the Week 3 game against the Buffalo Bills and a schedule that includes five teams that reached the playoffs in 2025 in the next seven games, including the Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens. Defender Derwin James called for honesty among teammates and said anger alone is not enough to fix the situation; concrete action is needed. As the NFL reports, the Chargers have little time to address the deficits and must improve immediately.
