Judges and Prosecutors associations take the salary law to the Constitutional Court, seek repeal of Parliament’s vote

The National Association of Judges, the Union of Albanian Judges and the Association of Prosecutors have turned to the Constitutional Court with a request to repeal law no. 95/2026, which amends the law on the status of judges and prosecutors.

In the request filed on September 21, 2026, obtained by journalist Anila Hoxha, the three associations also seek the suspension of the law’s implementation until the Constitutional Court issues its final decision.

The associations argue that Parliament failed to adopt the legal amendments within the deadline set by the Constitutional Court in its February 17, 2026 decision, while the request also raises issues related to the implementation of the constitutional decision and the determination of magistrates’ reference salary.

The document also states that the KLGJ and KLP had approved decisions determining the reference salary of judges and prosecutors, but the subsequent execution of salary differences faced problems in Treasury procedures.

The request has now been submitted to the Constitutional Court for review.
