Jimmer Fredette named MVP of FIBA 3×3 tournament after coming out of retirement

Jimmer Fredette returned to competition and was named the most valuable player at a two-day FIBA 3×3 tournament in Phoenix, as he helped Team Miami record five wins without a loss and defeat Amsterdam 22-16 in the final.

As Bleacher Report reports, he scored 27 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and dished 15 key assists throughout the competition, in a performance that secured him the MVP award.

Fredette became nationally known during his time at BYU, where he was named the national college player of the year in 2011. He played six seasons in the NBA and then continued his career with clubs abroad, while in the 3×3 format he has represented the United States, winning the silver medal at the FIBA 2023 World Cup.

USA Basketball named him managing director of the men’s 3×3 team in May 2025, but Fredette resigned from the post to return as a player; he and Team Miami will travel to Deqing, China, to compete in the FIBA 3×3 World Tour, according to the latest reports from Bleacher Report.
