Kalemaj on “3D”: Rama has closed his political cycle — no news came of him from New York
Analyst Ilir Kalemaj, a guest on journalist Alban Dudushi’s “3D” program on RTSH, said Prime Minister Edi Rama has closed his political cycle after 26 uninterrupted years at the highest positions of power. According to Kalemaj, expectations of results or high-level meetings during his stay in New York went unmet, remaining largely confined to meetings with the Albanian diaspora.
In his analysis, Kalemaj compared the situation with historical developments in the U.S., citing the resignation of President Richard Nixon after the Watergate scandal, where despite achievements in foreign policy, political erosion came as a result of domestic events and the actions of associates.
In his remarks, the analyst underlined the difference between Albania’s diplomatic agenda and that of other regional leaders during their stay in the U.S. He pointed to the meetings held by leaders such as Albin Kurti and Aleksandar Vučić with representatives of international institutions and partner states.
“In a week of meetings, he met only with the Albanian diaspora in New York, Detroit and elsewhere, and we didn’t see him meet anyone else,” Kalemaj emphasized during the studio discussion.
He also touched on national security issues and the European integration process, saying that political initiatives and the rhetoric used for international opinion were no longer delivering the desired results in the face of the European Union’s demands for deep reforms.
