Kallas: Russia is endangering lives across Europe through hybrid attacks
EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas, during a press conference with Moldovan Prime Minister Vasile Tofan, said that Russia is endangering lives across Europe through hybrid attacks.
“In recent weeks, Europe has experienced an escalation of Russian hybrid attacks and airspace violations. Russian missiles and drones again violated Moldova’s airspace during the weekend. And this is completely unacceptable,” Kallas said.
On 30 September, Russia launched attacks on Ukraine’s energy network, hitting power plants and infrastructure around Kyiv and other areas in the most coordinated attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure in months.
In Moldova, on Ukraine’s western border, the Ministry of Defence announced that three drones violated its airspace on 30 September.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz warned last week that Germany was facing a growing number of hybrid attacks from Russia and vowed to continue supporting Ukraine in the face of what is expected to be its hardest winter since the Russian invasion of 2022.
German authorities have repeatedly warned that Russia is conducting a hybrid campaign of drone and cyber attacks, and accuse Moscow of standing behind the attempted drone attack on Leipzig airport in August.
