829 women and 19 men were affected by breast cancer in 2025

Breast cancer cases have risen again. Experts at the Institute of Public Health (ISHP) say the trend is the same as in European countries, and the cause is lifestyle, increased life expectancy, but also awareness, which leads women and girls to the doctor to be diagnosed.

But it is not only women who are at risk from breast cancer. In 2025 there were cases among men as well.

ISHP experts, in their analysis, identify that some districts have more cases. Despite the increase in cases, early detection of the disease has meant that mortality has fallen.

October is the awareness month for the importance of early detection of breast cancer. Therefore, experts call on all women and girls to have check-ups. Besides the mammography units placed in hospitals and health centres, two mobile mammography units will be across Albania, so that every woman and girl can be examined.
