Maliq, municipal council votes against merger with Korça
The Maliq Municipal Council was convened today to discuss and then vote on the draft Territorial Reform. The left and the right joined forces voting against the draft. In total there were 21 votes against the merger and only one vote in favor.
This vote against comes after the last meeting where the left abandoned the council meeting claiming they needed time to familiarize themselves with this draft, and at that time there was no decision-making.
This time the left seem to have been convinced that something like this is not in favor of the residents and the territory of the Maliq municipality, and they raised their cards against.
Apparently, not even Prime Minister Rama himself, who was in Korça a few weeks ago to discuss this draft, managed to convince the left to vote in favor of this draft.
It should be noted that, although not on the scale of other cities, the residents of Maliq as well as various exponents of local politics up to representatives of the administration have publicly expressed themselves against this reform and the merger of Maliq with Korça, while a few days ago the Korça municipal council itself voted in favor of this draft and the merger with Maliq.
