Government extends reduced VAT on diesel until October 12, minister Dimitrieska-Koçoska announces

North Macedonia’s government today (September 28, 2026) extended the measure cutting VAT on diesel from 18% to 10% until October 12, as announced by Finance Minister Gordana Dimitrieska-Koçoska, Večer Pres reports.

The minister announced the news, stressing that “the Government continues to protect citizens’ living standards and the stability of the domestic economy.” The preferential measure had started on September 15, aimed at softening rising fuel prices, and today’s decision comes one day before its expiry. Also today, the Energy Regulatory Commission announced the new fuel prices taking effect at midnight — diesel becomes more expensive, according to Press24.
