Marta Kos After Phone Call With Spajić: Political Unity Key to Successfully Closing EU Talks

European Union Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos held a phone call with Montenegrin Prime Minister Milojko Spajić on the remaining steps toward closing the accession negotiations — she announced it herself on the social network X.

According to the commissioner, Montenegro has now entered the final phase of negotiations with Brussels. “For the successful closing of the negotiations, it is key to maintain political unity and stability within Montenegro,” Kos said.

She also stressed the importance of keeping up the momentum in implementing the remaining reforms, as well as stepping up efforts to improve good neighbourly relations.

The commissioner’s call comes at a moment when Podgorica aims to close new negotiating chapters ahead of October’s intergovernmental conference, with the declared goal of membership in 2028.
