Milatović congratulates Rožaje Day: the town has potential for stronger development — more chances for young people, new investments
Montenegro’s President Jakov Milatović has sent congratulations to the citizens of Rožaje on the occasion of Municipality Day, September 30 — a date that commemorates the liberation of the town on September 30, 1944, as RTCG reports. In his message, the president stressed that this day is a reminder of the courage and sacrifice of the generations who fought for freedom, as well as of anti-fascism as a foundation of modern Montenegro.
According to Milatović, Rožaje is a town with a strong identity, a rich culture and hardworking hosts, located in an area of outstanding natural beauty — from Hajla and the surrounding mountain massifs, through dense forests, to the fertile valley of the Ibar. He praised the town’s rich cultural heritage, preserved in its architecture, customs, creativity and tradition.
Mountain tourism, agriculture, healthy food production and the development of small and medium-sized enterprises can be strong pillars of the local economy, the president said, as RTCG reports. But he stressed that Rožaje needs better infrastructure, better transport links, new investments and greater support for people who want to work, produce and create in their town.
At the centre of his message were young people — Milatović called for more opportunities for them through quality education, stable jobs and conditions for them to build their future at home. He also stressed that a great strength of Rožaje is its large diaspora, forever linked to the homeland: its “knowledge, experience, business connections and investment potential” can further contribute to development and to Rožaje’s stronger connection with Europe and the world.
Rožaje deserves progress that is felt in citizens’ everyday lives — better roads and public services, more investment and jobs, better living conditions. “A stronger and more developed Rožaje is important for the more equal development of the north and for the overall well-being of Montenegro,” the president concluded.
